From Sri Ganganagar to Kota: Madhu Bishnoi Is Empowering the Next Generation Through Football
A Rajasthan coach's work takes rural girls from Sri Ganganagar to Kota academy, building national champions through disciplined training.
Kota, Rajasthan: Known across India as an education and coaching hub, Kota is also witnessing a quieter transformation on its football grounds. For nearly a decade, Madhu Bishnoi, a sportsperson and football coach originally from Sri Ganganagar, has been working at the grassroots level to train young footballers and encourage more children—especially girls—to take up the sport with confidence and determination.
Over the past ten years, Madhu has dedicated herself to developing young football talent in Kota. She has coached both boys and girls and has helped prepare more than 25 promising footballers, giving them the skills, discipline and confidence needed to pursue opportunities at higher levels.
More Than Football: Building Fitness, Discipline and Confidence
For Madhu, football is not simply about scoring goals or winning matches. She believes the sport teaches valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline, resilience and self-belief.
Her training philosophy goes beyond technical aspects such as passing, dribbling and finishing. She places equal importance on physical fitness, stamina, strength, agility and mental toughness. Regular practice and maintaining a disciplined routine, she believes, are essential for a young athlete’s long-term development.
Her own sporting background has also shaped the way she approaches coaching. Rather than focusing only on results, Madhu aims to help young players understand the importance of consistency, hard work and continuous improvement.
Giving Girls the Confidence to Step Onto the Field
One of the most significant aspects of Madhu Bishnoi’s journey has been her efforts to encourage girls to participate in football.
For many young girls, entering competitive sport can involve social, cultural and practical challenges. Madhu tries to create an environment where girls feel comfortable stepping onto the field, training alongside their peers and competing with confidence.
Her work comes at a time when women’s football in Kota and Rajasthan is gaining greater visibility. Girls from Kota and surrounding areas have increasingly taken up football, with several players progressing to represent Rajasthan and compete at higher levels.
Kota’s State Girls Football Academy, established in 2018, has also contributed to creating training opportunities for talented female footballers from across Rajasthan, strengthening the pathway for young girls who aspire to take the sport seriously.
Kota’s Growing Football Culture
Kota’s sporting identity extends well beyond football, with young athletes participating in disciplines such as athletics, basketball, volleyball, hockey, badminton and tennis. Yet football has developed a particularly strong connection with the city’s younger generation.
The growth of clubs, coaches and registered players across Rajasthan has further strengthened the state’s football ecosystem. At the grassroots level, however, much of this development depends on coaches who work away from the spotlight.
Local football grounds, early-morning training sessions and regular practice form the foundation on which young players build their careers. Coaches like Madhu play an important role in identifying potential, developing skills and helping young athletes understand what it takes to compete at a higher level.
Developing Players, Shaping Personalities
For Madhu Bishnoi, coaching is not limited to teaching football techniques. It is also about helping young people become disciplined, physically fit and mentally stronger.
Her decade-long journey in Kota reflects the impact that grassroots coaches can have on a community. By working with both boys and girls and actively encouraging greater participation among girls, she is helping create an environment where young footballers can discover their potential.
More than 25 promising players have benefited from her coaching and guidance, but the larger impact of her work can be seen in the confidence and enthusiasm of the children who continue to turn up for training.
One Player, One Dream at a Time
From Sri Ganganagar to Kota, Madhu Bishnoi’s journey is a story of passion, perseverance and grassroots sports development.
In a city famous for preparing students for academic careers, she is helping young people discover another path—one built around football, fitness, teamwork and self-belief.
Her contribution may often take place far from the spotlight, but every training session, every young player encouraged to keep going and every girl who steps onto the football field represents a small step toward a stronger sporting culture in Kota.
Madhu Bishnoi is not just coaching footballers; she is helping young boys and girls believe that their dreams can find a place on the football field.
