Jodhpur; June 8, 2025: Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla will undertake a significant visit to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur on Monday, June 9. The visit marks a step forward in the promotion of scientific and technological innovation in higher education institutions.

During his visit, Shri Birla will inaugurate the newly constructed Lecture Hall Complex – II, a state-of-the-art academic facility built at a cost of ₹14.80 crore. The complex is expected to boost the academic and research capabilities of the institute. This event will also see participation from Rajya Sabha MP Shri Rajendra Gehlot, social worker Shri Nimbaram, and renowned space scientist Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar, who is also the Chairperson of the IIT Jodhpur Board of Governors.

IIT Jodhpur Director Prof. Avinash K. Agarwal and Deputy Director Prof. Bhabani K. Satpathy will accompany the dignitaries. Shri A.S. Kiran Kumar will preside over the inauguration ceremony.

Apart from the inauguration, Shri Om Birla will also distribute ‘Research Initiative Grants’ to encourage innovation-driven projects and scientific research at the institute. In a move to modernize communication and accessibility, the institute's new official website will also be launched by him.

One of the key highlights of the event will be the release of ‘Science Through Play’, a specially designed comic book series aimed at making science engaging and accessible for children and young adults. This creative initiative seeks to promote scientific curiosity using storytelling and illustrations.

This visit reflects the increasing emphasis by national leaders on promoting research, education, and innovation at premier institutes. Established in 2008, IIT Jodhpur has emerged as a center of excellence in technical education and research in India.
