PAINTING EXHIBITION OF ESPECIALLY ABLED KIDS INAUGURATED AT JKK
Jaipur : A four-day painting exhibition by especially abled students of Umang School was inaugurated today at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). The exhibition that showcases over 60 paintings made by children, was inaugurated by lighting of traditional lamp by Army Commander, South Western Command, Lt. Gen. Dhiraj Seth.
 
On the occasion, Lt. Gen. Seth said, "this event of colour and art is truly reflective of the dedication that Umang has.  Ever since the beginning of Umang in 2005, it has grown from strength to strength, empowering at least 2,500 children. Army is also doing their bit for especially abled children of the nation. There are 32 Asha Schools set up by army for especially abled kids which has enrolled about 1700 students." He also informed that a special 'Haifa Day' would be organised for the children of Umang  as well as an exhibition of the army equipment.
 
The paintings displayed at the exhibition were made at the workshop conducted by the well-known artist from Switzerland, Madeleine Binzegger. She was welcomed and felicitated at the inauguration by Director, Umang School, Ms Deepak Kalra.   Speaking on the occasion, Ms Kalra said that the colourful paintings at the exhibition reflected hope, joy and zest for life of these young artists.
 
The event began with Ganesh Vandana performed by the children of Umang. Also present on the occasion were former Naval Chief, Admiral Madhvendra Singh; Ms Kaumudi Singh and Sudhir Mathur. The exhibition is open for public till 19 March, from 11 am to 7pm at Surekh Gallery of JKK.
